A Word from the Founding Director
Good morning — and welcome to another Monday dispatch.
In clinical work, the week often begins with logistics: rosters, inboxes, meetings, care plans. But existentially, Mondays are also an invitation: to notice what we are already committed to (often without saying so), and to choose—again—how we want to show up in the face of finitude.
Existential Thinker of the Issue
Jean-Paul Sartre
“Imagination is not an empirical or superadded power of consciousness, it is the whole of consciousness as it realizes its freedom.” — Jean-Paul Sartre (Wikiquote)
Clinically: Sartre’s line is a reminder that “freedom” is not only a grand philosophical idea—it is also the micro-movements of mind that let a person re-interpret their situation, picture a different next step, or reclaim agency inside constraint.
